The Game Plan For Your Best Year Yet

It’s time to look back, in order to move forward.

There are so many pretty planners, diaries and calendars. Spreadsheets and apps. It can also be pretty overwhelming, am I right? You’re trying to concentrate on the amazing-ness that you’ll manifest for the next year but all you can do is remember the time you forgot to record your webinar, or when your Page numbers went backwards for a couple weeks (or perhaps that month that you only reached HALF your income goal). You’re trying to stay positive but it’s not always easy. There’s just sooooooo much to do and to think about and to plan and to… and to… and to…. It seems never ending!

We’ve all witnessed days effortlessly slip by right under our noses with that crumbling feeling that we were only able to check off a third of the tasks we hoped to accomplish that day. Not because we’re lazy (did someone say Netflix?), but rather we simply have not structured our days to efficiently get more done.

It’s time to kiss those painfully slow progress days goodbye and embrace my 3-step process below to successfully plan the year ahead and take your biz to new heights!

Let’s dive in, shall we?

The Game Plan For Your Best Year Yet

#1 Backward Goal-Setting

Work backwards to attain your ambitious goals.

For instance, If you want to achieve X, then break that goal into strategic, marginal, and measurable tasks to make a BIG goal attainable. It’s this consistent effort that you decide to make in your daily routine that will improve the odds of you achieving the outcome you desire.

First things first, get clear about what you want to achieve.
Second, set a date you’d like to accomplish your goal by (yep, SMART goals actually work!).
Third, break down the goal into bite sized and manageable tasks.

#2 Prioritize

Are the activities in your day feeling more like busy work than your life’s work? It’s time to reprioritise your daily tasks!

You need to ensure that you’re chipping away at your goal every day so you need to get to that immediately in your day. Most people will tell you to “eat the frog” and do the most difficult work first, I’ll tell you the opposite… Complete a few easy and quick tasks first but don’t let yourself procrastinate and waste time on them.  By achieving small goals at the beginning of the day, you’ll create a sense of pride and achievement which in turn, will give you the motivation you need to power through the rest of your day.

Get in control of your day and live on purpose.

#3 Delegate to Elevate

Let me introduce you to your new best friend: DELEGATION.

Read it, say it, repeat it, and learn to love it.

If you’ve made strides in your business but feel as if you’ve hit a plateau, seriously consider clearing off your plate a little (or perhaps a lot) and give yourself more time and energy to focus on what you’re best at and let others assist you in the tasks that you’re not as skilled in or simply aren’t as passionate about.

It’s about working (and living) in your Zone of Genius, as opposed to your Zone of Excellence.

It can be super daunting to rely on others to take care of the tasks that you have been doing on your own but it’s absolutely necessary to allow others to assist you on your journey to make your business module more efficient.

Your homework:

1. What tasks do you need to implement in your daily routine that will lead you to your ultimate goal?
2. How would you prioritize those tasks in your daily work schedule?
3. Of those tasks, what can you outsource today?
