Systems is NOT a dirty word

Systems is NOT a dirty word

Systems… It sounds so analytical, so geeky, so scary! But systems is not a dirty word, after all, it is simply a fancy way of saying procedure. And considering my business is built on systems (yes, I am a geek), I should know! I help discover, implement and maintain them for my clients. For me, working with systems comes naturally and I look at it like simple physics – for every action, there is always a reaction and in business, this “reaction” is the system that the action prompts. It could be as simple as when a lead comes in, what do you do next? That is a system (and one you should definitely have in place)!

I am a huge lover of automation so all leads that come through my website are filtered directly into my CRM and project management software where I am prompted to send an introductory email. I have templates for all types of emails but always ensure they are personalised before sending. Even though automation is a business person’s best friend, it’s also a killer for customer relationships so ALWAYS ensure correspondence is personalised.

Once I have a customer, it is my job to look after them and ensure they don’t leave me to go elsewhere. There are plenty of other people offering the same services as I do so it is up to me have a system in place to keep them happy.

This system is simple… Go above and beyond and exceed their expectations. It may not sound simple, but really it is. I don’t just complete the task they set, I will look further than that. See what else there is that I could assist with that my client may not have thought of yet. I take notes during ALL conversations so that I can refer to them later (again, another system), especially information that isn’t business related. I like adding a personal touch to my services.

What systems do you have in place? What do you need to put in place?  And I wonder what ones haven’t even occurred to you yet!…
